The long-awaited day is about to arrive. As of writing, less than a week separates us from fromis_9’s most anticipated release: My Little Society, their 4th mini album. On September 16th, flovers will be celebrating new songs, photos, performances, and a fresh music video that will be the start of a new era for the group.
To celebrate, let’s look back at how our girls’ image has changed throughout the almost three years we’ve been together!
Saerom
Debuting with a jovial look with short hair and bangs, our captain showed a fresh image, fitting of fromis_9’s concept at the time. Throughout the following comebacks, Saerom’s hair slowly got longer and her foxy gaze became stronger. The sexiness that she had been suppressing to fit the group’s image (as she said so herself), has gradually started to show itself. May flovers hearts be prepared, for our sweet and loving Captain will definitely show more of her mature and fatal image in the future.
Hayoung
Pure and heartfelt both during singing and in looks, Hayoung’s trademarks are her babyface and bangs. Despite her young and innocent appearance, Hayoung attempted a no-bangs visual during “Love Bomb” and “FUN!,” showcasing a more mature look to match the albums’ concepts. This time around, she will be sporting a new look with wavy, bright-colored hair; her signature bangs, of course, couldn’t be left out.
Gyuri
The other girls say she’s the member who has changed the most since debut. We’re inclined to agree. In less than three years, Gyuri went from looking like a cute, shy schoolgirl with puffy cheeks to a confident singer and actress with sharp features. For years, she’s been building up her girl crush image and it has paid off. Nowadays, her chic gaze is just as powerful as her trademark eye smile. Watch out for Gyuri sunbae!
Jiwon
Though she made for an amazing blonde, Jiwon has owned the long, dark, and voluminous hair look for a long time. Fueled by ever-growing confidence, she has been slowly putting her playful image aside in favor of her feminine charms recently. With her current red hair, characteristic thick lips, and stunning teeth smile, Jiwon has never looked more Megan.
Jisun
Jisun went from the soft-looking “precious fairy” and chubby-cheeked “Ponyo” to an undeniable beauty icon that enchants many with a single stare. She has tried multiple variations of her long hair, but it’s her face that will always catch your attention. A mysterious, powerful gaze coupled with unending confidence and knowledge about herself is Jisun’s charm, one that will make anyone fall under her spell.
Seoyeon
Long dark hair and the signature dark circles under her eyes were Seoyeon’s standard features from pre-debut up until the end of “DKDK” promotions. When she went blonde, Seoyeon seemed to unlock her full visual potential; have you seen blonde Seoyeon with glasses? Now, having even tried bright red hair and fake tattoos, there’s no look she can’t pull off with her natural swag.
Chaeyoung
Another member that underwent a big visual change during “Love Bomb” and “FUN!,” Chaeyoung can play both the tough gal and the Barbie girl. Be it long or short, dark or bright, bangs or not… her hair has changed various times throughout the eras. What stays unchanged, however, is Chaeyoung’s capability to adapt and make fashionable whatever look is given to her.
Nagyung
The member whose scalp has suffered the most, Nagyung has rocked the simplest of looks and the most drastic of all; who in K-pop is unaware of her famous half and half hair? With tiny diamond-shaped lips, two cute heart-shaped nostrils, and an infamously small face, Nagyung is capable of adorning any style, cute or fatal. Don’t forget that in a group with nine visuals, she’s the official one.
Jiheon
Nothing could better fit Jiheon’s debut image than ponytails; she was a baby, after all. Her age, however, has never stopped her from being fierce when the situation called for it. Jiheon is a master of expressions who has proven time and time again she can pull off any look. Though she may deceive you, once Jiheon’s smile shines again, you’ll remember right away that she will always be our beloved maknae.
group
We have seen fromis_9 grow with each passing concept – from simple students wearing the same uniform, to cute teenagers chasing around cats; from iconic velvet love bombs, to explosively energetic summer girls. Now, they have become glamorous women celebrating their own little society. It’s humbling to see how much has changed, yet they are – and always will be – the same affectionate and thoughtful girls that flovers have come to love.
